Each veteran has a story

Each veteran has a story

We set aside November 11 each year to honor those who have served in the military, both in times of war and times of peace. It’s good to remember them all – from every branch of service, but it’s also good to remember that each one has a story.

We’re proud to have two veterans as part of the FH Air team, and we’d like to celebrate their stories today.

Al Shattuck

Al is a World War II veteran who continued to serve his country after being discharged from service. He was a Chief Criminal Investigator who worked to recover over $10 million worth of precious metals and industrial diamonds hidden by foreign manufacturers.

He is the founder and president emeritus of the American Veterans Association Sao Paul, served as the Commander for the VFW, and is a member of the MCSO Posse.

Joe Messenger

Joe is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran who received an Army commendation medal for services in Iraq and an early promotion from Private Specialist First Class to Specialist.

Back in the days before ‘selfie’ was in the dictionary, Joe rakishly snapped a photo of himself in a Black Hawk helicopter.

While these men come from different generations, they seem cut from a similar cloth – both demonstrated love for their country by serving in the military, and both speak a language of respect and pride that creates an immediate bond.

FH Air is happy to showcase these two soldiers on this Veterans Day – and we’d like to wish every service person out there, active or inactive, a happy and memorable Veteran’s Day.

PSC Joe Messenger is known for his impressive delivery of the Soldier’s Creed:

I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team.
I serve the people of the United States, and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.
I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America, in close combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
I am an American Soldier.
